Does the PSAT affect admissions at all?

<p>My teacher said that the PSAT only matters for college scholarships.</p>

<p>So it does not affect admissions at all even if you get a really bad score or a really high score?</p>

<p>Well it shouldn’t negatively affect your admission if you don’t get a high PSAT score. However, if you do get a high PSAT score, you might be able to qualify to be a National Merit Finalist/Scholar (or if you’re below the cutoff by a little bit, commended). Both can be used as “honors” listed on your Common App and can help. Being a NMF helps a lot in certain college admissions, as it is a prestigious award.</p>

<p>Colleges do not see PSAT scores. Super high PSAT scores can help (as noted above it your are a National Merit Finalist/Scholar/Commended student you should put it on your application). Low PSAT scores do not hurt at all.</p>
