I am very interested in applying to Penn next year. I visited this spring and almost instantly felt a connection to the school. However, I am very interested in ultimately pursuing a career in the corporate side of the fashion industry, possibly in marketing or the like. I am heavily involved in debate, newspaper, and community service, but fashion is truly where my talent lies. I run a blog and intern at 2 different places. I have noticed that many CCers want to follow very intellectual/do-gooder pursuits, which I admire deeply. It worries me that a wonderful school like Penn will view my interest as superficial and vacuous (although I see it as an art form). Although I do not see many students on here with my same passion, this could also be a good thing as it is unique. Let me know: is it a good or bad idea to market myself in this way? Thank you all in advance.

That would not hurt you at all. Actually there are a lot of students going into things like banking which is not exactly a do gooder or overly intellectual pursuit.

Thank you Poeme! Excellent point. If anyone else has any feedback keep it coming I would love to hear different opinions on this topic, it seems scarce on CC
