Hi, I am an Alabama resident that is looking into the University of Alabama. I have to get a full ride, including room and board, to be able to go and I qualify for their free tuition scholarship. However, I know that Alabama doesn’t offer full-ride scholarships, just academic elite which is kind of a crapshoot anyway from what I’ve heard. I would need to apply for outside scholarships in order to cover the cost. The question is, would UA take away my Presidential scholarship for every dollar I earn in private scholarships? Do all colleges do this? Thanks.
Some colleges do reduce their aid if you get outside scholarships. Some don’t.
@mom2collegekids can this student stack UA and outside scholarships? What about need based aid from UA?
@naturecreative No, Bama does not reduce merit and allows stacking up to the full cost of attendance. Bama, through dept/alumni/etc scholarships, offers some students multiple stacking scholarships.
