Does UCB admit by department?

<p>I remember reading somewhere that UCB admits transfer students not by major but by department, and the social sciences had a ~25% admit rate. Anyone know if this is true?</p>

<p>^ It changes each year…in '09 social sciences accepted 18% and Interdisciplinary Studies dept took 40%. </p>

<p>Comparatively, in '10, 22% for social sciences and 33% for IS. But yes social sciences admit rate has been less than 25% for the past two years.</p>

<p>does this mean the major under social sciences you apply as has absolutely no bearing on admissions? so basically, an econ major has the exact same chance of admission as a polisci major?</p>
