ucb more competitive now?

is it true since ucb stopped admitting spring transfers, that it will become harder to get in?

and since theres this huge plan to help 1000 low-middle income california community college students...does that mean its going to get harder for the rest of us? (who aren't low or middle class)

yes, you won't get in.

thanks a lot....

ilovecalifornia, what is your major?

political economy of industrial societies.

no problem, just reassuring you :)

does the major selection make a difference?
i plan on double majoring in poli sci/mass communications.

which one should i put on my app to give me a better chance of getting in?

poli sci is one of the most competitive in the social sciences..but iono i'd do mass communications

At Cal, Poli Sci is not even an impacted major.... so it cant be that hard to get into.

Major selection ALWAYS makes a difference.

Hey does anyone have any idea if both Applied Mathematics and Statistics are impacted?

dpaykin, i read somewhere thats in the social science department...political science, econ, and psychology are the hardest to get into..and social science already has a 23% acceptance rate...i'm pretty sure its hard to get into lol iono i guess...but mass comm should be easier

how hard is it to change your major once you've been admitted to cal?

i heard its next to impossible to change majors into an impacted one.

How's bio? Anybody know?

Your 49.5 percent correct. But Poli sci major is not impacted. The reason for the low 23 percent acceptance rate is because of econ, physc, sociology, but not political science.

Is Polisci an impacted major?
No it's not -- but it is a large department and that often makes people think it's impacted. If you want to major in Political Science, and you have completed the minimum eligibility requirements (PS 1 and 2), and you follow our procedure for getting declared

<a href="http://www.polisci.berkeley.edu/ugrad/transfer%5B/url%5D">http://www.polisci.berkeley.edu/ugrad/transfer</a> student information.htm

Applying for Poli Sci major its more like 1/3 den 1/4

is sociology lightly impacted or very impacted, does anyone know? is there anywhere where i can get these stats?

Seeing UCLA's is pretty impacted (25% admit rate or something) then Cal's should be around the same, or maybe even tougher.

dpaykin...iono about your link it didn't work lol but heres mine

<a href="http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/resources/materials/ets_06/06campusProfiles.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/resources/materials/ets_06/06campusProfiles.pdf</a></p>

iono about it being impacted. i just read it off this

Everyone on this thread will get in; especially those associated with me.

Being affiliated with CC divinity also gives one priority admission to both UCLA and UCB (and unlike TAP we boast a 100% acceptance rate…
