Yes. Everyone goes to bed at 10:00 sharp to prepare for their days of endless drudgery. The Reg creates an anti fun shield in a 10 block radius around it, making fun literally impossible to have.
No U of C is a party school, the “fun goes to die” is just a smoke screen.
My kid was docked with heavy partners at accepted student days who were annoyed and ditched when she didn’t want to go drinking (weeknight). But it does depend on your major. Lots of students are wicked smart, and the science majors are tough.
