I’m at university of toronto and want to transfer to UCI. Is it possible? I have seen the requirements but do not understand what it means by UC transferable courses in English composition. I’m not currently taking English courses now as a first year student.
I think it is substantially more difficult to gain admission to the University of California in general as a transfer from a non-U.S. institution. I also started college at a university in Canada similar to U of T in academic reputation, but quickly found that I wasn’t happy there at all and wanted to transfer back to California. After learning that California community college transfers have the best chance of being accepted to UC, I left my university and started school the following year at a community college, and am currently a junior transfer engineering student at UCI (where I am much happier). While it’s certainly still possible to be admitted directly as a transfer from U of T, it isn’t an optimal situation.
I am just wondering what it means by writing courses. Cuz I know that U.S schools require writing while I am not taking any of them. So I am not even meeting the basic requirements.
@RoseRouser: First I would contact UCI directly and ask your questions of what type of English courses in your school would meet the requirements (if any). I would also consider @ARandomPerson1’s advice and consider coming to California and taking a few of the required courses at a local community college so you are guaranteed that they will transfer.
