To how many students per year? Is it renewable? If not, what is the most amount of aid they give? (merit based and need based)

The Regents Scholarship is the closest thing UCLA has to a full-ride scholarship. It’s worth a minimum of $2K per year (if there is no financial need) but goes up to full financial need.

Only 100 are awarded each year and it’s a very, very competitive program. (Even the applications are by invitation only.) Details are given here:

[UCLA Financial Aid Office Regents Scholarship](http://www.fao.ucla.edu/regents.htm)

if you are admitted look at scholarships within their student website, for ucla there is a whole section of scholarships you can apply to. but as far as full-ride, don’t count on it. you’ll probably get some loans and work study.

only if you are a recruited athlete. Even with an efc of zero, the UC’s expect ~$9k in self-help.

OP, You are from NY (OOS for the UCs). Don’t count on much of any scholarship. They are looking for full pay students from OOS now.

My family and i are moving to california my last year of high school so that i’ll be an official resident of CA and tuition will be almost $20K cheaper

note, if you do win a Regent’s scholarship (which requires +++ stats), UCLA & Cal will provide more grant $ IFF you qualify for need-based aid, but only if you qualify for need-based aid. Otherwise, the Regent’s $$ is capped at the big two (Cal and UCLA). The mid-tier campuses (dunno about SD) used to offer full tuition discount + small research stipend to Regent’s scholars but may not any more due to the budget crisis.

If your family’s income is less than $60K, you will go to a UC for free:[UC Blue and Gold Opportunity](Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan | UC Admissions)

^ that plan only covers fees, not housing, books, transportation, personal expenses.

According to the website I linked in #8:

I don’t know whether the total amount would add up to a “full ride,” however.

i think it might, for regents scholars, but for the rest, i would expect some forms of self-help included in the package
