Does UCSD = UC of the Socially Dead?

Ah, yes. Perhaps, then, I should reconsider La Jolla. Thirty minutes from Mexico, you say? Yes, well, how far to Cuernavaca? Mescal upon the Calle Tierra del Fuego, my tennis racket, and that sudden racket from the Great Wheel and the flying machines screaming overhead, screwed and pressed, propped against the parapet–what a dreadfully beautiful scene!

Navymike (or anyone else who can help), I’ll be going to sd soon to tour ucsd and id like to make a fun night out of it, got any good places to recommend?
Thanks.

^^You should definitely check out the village of La Jolla, which is kind of the “downtown” area of La Jolla. It’s right by the beach and there are a plethora of places to go shopping and sit down and eat while overlooking the sea. I’d walk down to Scripps Park and just walk around, it’s a nice little area to hang out and you can stand on the cliffs overlooking the ocean. I’m not sure what your schedule’s going to be during the day, but I’d suggest checking out the village in the day time, then maybe heading over to the gas lamp district at night. The gas lamp district is kind of main part of downtown San Diego where most of the night life is. There are lots of restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, etc. I wish I could be more specific and give you some recommendations on places, but I’ve only been a handful of times and don’t know the area extremely well. Anyway, I’d definitely suggest those two areas, even if you just head down there without a plan I’m sure you’ll have tons of options and will have a great time.

I’m not sure why anyone would want to head down to Tijuana. It’s pretty far off from the picturesque, beautiful scene you’re describing. I’m fairly certain you were being sarcastic loll, but I’ve driven through the majority of Baja California, Mexico and it’s a completely different world, almost like a third world country in some areas. Tijuana is very… um… unimpressive to say the least and just feels unsafe passing through it. Maybe I had the wrong impression because I’ve only driven through and didn’t pass in any of the nicer areas, if there are any, but I can’t see why anyone would head down there instead of find something else to do in San Diego. Not all of Baja California is that bad though, I stopped in Ensanada and it seemed to be a nice little city. Other than that though, unless you’re head hundreds of miles East to the main part of Mexico, I really just don’t see the attraction in Baja besides the quiet beach towns farther south.

Thanks. :)

To give it an alternate view, the Gas Lamp is a place where very unworthily expensive stuff happens. I hate it, but it’s just my “the crowd is untruth” side taking over. Many people have fun there and in the rest of downtown. They’re tools, but happy tools.

Tijuana - It’s no secret that it’s not the cleanest, richest, or safest city down in BC. If you wanna go to BC, you can pass through Tijuana to Rosarito or Ensenada. I hear La Paz is dangerous right now, so don’t go that far. Even so, there’s a freedom in Mexico you don’t feel here, you’d have to experience it yourself!
