Is UCSD really as social dead as everyone says it is?

Just as the title says
Everyone talks about University of California: San Diego being 100% socially dead, very strong academically, good for research, competitive. But pure quiet and dead. Is this true? or just one big exaggeration.

How could “100% socially dead” NOT be an exaggeration? As if every single student on the campus locks themselves in a closet and sucks their thumb in the fetal position. It’s an exaggeration. Many people at UCSD go out and do things. Many people at every university go out and do things. Are there AS MANY raging parties at UCSD compared to other places? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean someplace is 100% socially dead.

gosh you don’t have to take it so literally. I mean is the overall vibe of the campus to themselves and quiet, theres plenty of sources out there that say UCSD is not very socially active im just trying to get actual students to see if this is true.

^Oh I know. I was just being a little bit sarcastic. It wasn’t directed towards you but just towards other people who say that about UCSD. Sorry about that. :frowning:

Yeah the campus is quieter than not and a lot of people do keep to themselves but there are always those who don’t. If you were worried that you wouldn’t find people with the same interests as you if you find yourself outgoing, I would say not to worry about that. The campus has tens of thousands of students. You will definitely find those with similar interests. There are many socially active students but the campus just doesn’t feel as overtly active. That’s why I think people call it socially dead, just because it doesn’t seem super socially active outside looking in. I definitely encourage you to visit the campus if you can and haven’t already.
