Does UM give substantial need-based financial aid to those who qualify?

Just got accepted (woot, probably not going here but still nice) and got a merit scholarship for $17k a year. I live with a single mother who makes less than $16k a year (she is disabled, the $16k is from her pension plan) so I obviously can't afford to go there (plus I got accepted to Michigan which is known for giving more financial aid). Does anyone know if UM gives need-based aid?

UM definitely gives need-based aid and it’s more than generous. I’m here on about $32k in merit money, and the rest is need-based financial aid. My bill last fall was $600.

what scholarship did u get?

And when and how are you notified about FA? I have two in college next year (EEK).

I spoke with financial aid. Next week, they will download the Fasfa applications and start to review. They are reviewed in the order they were received.
