Does Uncle Count As Legacy?

I am just curious since I have already enrolled at my school, but would the fact that my uncle went to Columbia for graduate school be considered at all if I applied there? Also, would it be of any help whatsoever if I applied there for grad school? Thanks.

Not unless he’s a generous donor to the school. Parents and sometimes grandparents make you a legacy.

… or unless the uncle’s name is something like Kennedy, Bush, Rockefeller or Rothchild

Not a legacy technically, but many schools do like to see “families”. See what they ask for on the application.

Unfortunately, no doesn’t. Usually only parents, grandparents, etc and siblings are counted as legacies.
