No problem!

We export our veterinary, osteopathy, dentistry, optometry and podiatry students to schools in other WICHE states under PSEP since my state lacks professional programs in those disciplines.

Man. After reading all this I already feel disheartened and what little confidence I had was diminished haha. But hey reality is reality. UC Davis is my ‘home college’ but I doubt even if I were to get accepted into there that they would even accept me into their medical school considering I attended the university.

What are your takes on the matter of the ethnicity of the people being accepted into medical school? Is it still a “minority advantage” even for medical school or at that point it’s if you’re smart you’re smart let’s leave it as that

MCAT and GPA Grid for Applicants and Acceptees by Selected Race and Ethnicity, 2009-2011

Some minority groups are under-represented in med schools (and thus slightly advantaged in the admissions process) ; some minority groups are over-represented. Take a look at the AAMC data tables to see your answer.

Minorities fill a need in the medical community, and it is neccessary for medical schools to fill their classes to meet all societal needs. When ORM’s and caucasian Dr.'s go to the primarily AA areas to practice, then come back and argue against a “minority advantage.”

Your first sentence is open for discussion on CC as it pertains to the admissions process of URMs (your use of the word ‘ethnicity’ is incorrect) for Med school.

Your second sentence however is out of line for two reasons:

CC policy is that the only place AA discussions are permitted is on the Race FAQ thread on the Admissions forum.

It is a violation of CCs Terms of Service concerning courtesy and general behavior.

mea culpa, mea culpa

WOW is correct. WICHE let students from New Mexico and Montana into Arizona’s med school in the 70s. Don’t know if they now have medical schools.

As per race: Bakke ruled that minorities don’t get advantage other than diversity. But later ruling with Michigan ruled against “giving minorities extra points”
