Does undergrad school name really matter?

Just wondering on your thoughts or if you have any facts concerning this:

I am a CC student with a 3.75 gpa, work 25 hours a week, involved in clubs etc. I'm pretty sure I can get into most UC's except for maybe Berkeley. So here's an ideal situation should I go to UCR (I have lived in riverside my whole life) and hopefully get like a 3.6-3.7 or go to UCLA and get a 3.2-3.3.

Which one would law schools prefer?

ps: if it matters my major is poli sci

Say this five time: your undergrad school doesn’t matter regarding law school admissions. Whether you go to Berkeley or Cal State is immaterial. What does matter is the GPA and LSAT scores and your personal statement.

With that said, I think estimating a 0.5 GPA boost by going to a different school is a pretty substantial overestimate. Very few schools are that much harder or easier. 0.5 is a lot.

^depends on the school. im at cornell right now and i can tell you my GPA would be a lot higher at my state school
