I was waitlisted @ Vanderbilt, and personally know atleast 5 people who are in the same position. Vanderbilt never reveals the number of students they place on their waitlist, only that 10-15% of a freshman class is made up of students taken off the waitlist.

Is Vanderbilt similar to WUSTL in that they waitlist an exorbitantly large number of students?

If I remember correctly, there were between 4000 and 5000 students waitlisted last year, which is a good chunk of the applicants but not as extreme as WUSTL (as far as I know).
This data should be in the Common Data Set (along with the number of students who accept a spot on the waitlist which was between 2000 and 3000 last year I think) so you can probably check that out if you’re really curious
