does volunteer work help?

I have a chance to volunteer at a history museum. I am applying as a history major this fall to pretty much every UC. For the transfer prompt it says to talk about any expierence ive had in the field. I dony have any prior expierence. So i signed up to volunteer but im nervous im taking on too much i work part time will be taking 12 units this fall and spring and im married. So idk if i should do it after all. Would it benefit my application if i do? Could i do without it? I have a 3.8 and will have all pre reqs done by spring

I think you should volunteer. The UCs expect experience in your major because you are a transfer student and if you don’t have that, volunteering is the way to go. What you did as a volunteer also makes for a great personal statement.

Since you are working, married, and full-time student, I would suggest volunteering only for a few hours a week. But if you feel like you can do more, go for it.

Just make sure you maintain that GPA for fall and do not fail any courses in the spring.

just explain in your app your situation and they will understand

Yah it helps but I haven’t done any volunteer work since my sophomore year of HS and still got accepted
