My kid has been involved in “Get Out the Vote” events for a few months now. Can that be counted toward community service?
It’s one sort, yes. A form of advocacy.
My oldest had to do a 100 hrs of community service a year to keep his college scholarship. He spent a lot of time volunteering for different candidates and causes. That work counted the same as the tutoring, park clean up and other things he did.
My kid did her HS senior service project volunteering at the district conventions around our state for one of the parties.
Thanks! @intparent,did your senior keep a volunteer log? Was a signature necessary from the organizers?
I think she needed a paper signed at each event. She always found someone to do it.
I think Get Out the Vote - as opposed to work specifically for one party or the other definitely can be considered a community service activity. Whether a signature is require depends on what you need it for.
