Does when I submitted my app matter?

Here's my question, CC'ers:

I applied regular decision to a school and my application was complete sometime in November. In early December (want to say the 7th), I decided I wanted to switch to the Early Decision II applicant pool. I feel that the school is definitely the place for me and had to wait for financial reasons to come together.

When I sent my adcom and email, she told me to send my ED agreement in ASAP because the "final file meeting was in a few days." This kind of alarmed me. Does this mean they may have been making my decision before the actual deadline (strange to me because they were busy with EDI). It worried me because I want my decision to be made with the advantages ED has. I also submitted an important recommendation a few days later and want that to be taken into consideration.

What do you think she meant by the "final file meeting?" Like I said, applying ED at the school offers a strong advantage, and my trustee recommendation might play a factor in my reading as well.

Can I assume they waited until after Christmas break to start my file?

Anyone? Bueller…?

Seems to me like she got mixed up with ED I and II.

You should probably call the admissions office to get it sorted out

If she thought I was applying EDI, my letter would’ve already come. I’ve talked to her since about various questions and I think she just made a typo.

Princeton says they start reviewing files as they become complete. Maybe other colleges have the same process and as far as they knew, yours was complete.
