First off, I’m sorry if this is the wrong forum. I couldn’t find an Econ/Finance section and since Econ/Finance is applied Math, I thought this would be right.
Anyways, my GPA is less than stellar (3.3) and I got into some colleges. However, should I consider a different major since my GPA is low and I’m not going to a good school? I do find Econ to be quite fun, but I’m afraid my high school career screwed me over.
Some colleges have higher math intensity than others in economics. The math intensity varies from no calculus to multivariable calculus and linear algebra. Pre PhD students should take even more math, like real analysis.

So would you say it worth it to go to a not so prestigious school to study finance?
What do you want to do with the degree? My D’s boyfriend studied Econ at a 2nd tier LAC. He has been working for Deloitte for a few years and has been doing well (he did have good grades in college).
You should do some homework for the schools that you were accepted
Check out their websites and look at their career services pages
See what companies are coming to recruit on campus
You can email different Prof/teachers and ask them about career placement with some of their most recent students
The college websites are great for obtaining info if you really look
Good luck
Depends on your post-graduation goal. For employment, some employers are more school-prestige-conscious than others. For PhD study, the offerings at your undergraduate school can make a difference in preparing for PhD study.
