Hey, I was wondering if Williams take into account your writing score of the SAT, I always thought that they did, but now that I look at the College Board web page they say that Williams doesn't look at them, and it is confusing because I also searched at the Williams page and they show the average writing scores of the admitted students for the class 2013... did they change their policy since the last admission or is the College Board wrong??

Don’t know for sure, but most top schools give it minimal weight: on an all-else-equal basis, an 800 can’t hurt (but all colleges and universities are aware, e.g. that USNWR only reports M/V ranges).

I was told by the coach we talked to that admissions considered the writing score as a subject test - if an applicant had a strong writing score it could be used as one of three subject tests, if not so strong it would not be a large negative. Clearly not as important as the other two SAT I sections but not totally irrelevant.
