<p>Do colleges look at the writing section of the SAT? Ive heard from some that they don't look at it at all, while others seem to think it is weighted equally with Reading and Math.</p>
<p>Some do look at it, some don't. Usually if you look on their collegeboard.com profile, under SAT Scores, it will show if the school looks @ Writing or not.</p>
<p>Just because schools do not publish the SAT writing scores does not mean that it is not an admissions factor. Even if colleges specifically claim that writing is not a factor, they still see your score, and I would imagine that extremes would effect admission decisions (say a 600 on writing vs. an 800). The question then becomes do colleges disregard smaller discrepancies in writing scores (30 or 40 points), is the difference between a 700 and 750 negligible? Or is it viewed in the same way as reading and math? This is not a trivial question for those of us whose writing score drags down our overal score out of 2400 a bit.</p>
