Does your GPA transfer with you to GT?

I plan to attend GPC (Dunwoody) for the RETP program if I don't get accepted into GT as a freshmen. Would my GPA transfer from GPA to GT once I have done the 2 year RETP program or would it be reset to 0.00, or do they have their own way of recalculating my GPA? I assume my GPC GPA will be a higher than the GPA I would get at GT if I got accepted. I have read GPC is considered as a joke compared to how rigorous GT is. So assuming I got a 4.0 (or something similarly high) throughout both years at GPC, I don't think it would be right to have the 4.0 in GT...

I do know I wouldn't keep the 4.0 in GT as it is nearly impossible to have one there. My GPA would drop if I did my final two years at GT.

Last question: For the RETP program are you automatically accepted into GT if you meet the requirements? Or do you still have to apply and possibly be denied or even waitlisted? I couldn't find a solid answer anywhere.

Thanks

I’m pretty sure that your GPA resets once you get to tech and they do not factor in your GPC GPA at all for anything except the hope scholarship.

Yes, you are automatically accepted for RETP if you meet the requirements. You do still have to apply, but from my understanding you can’t be waitlisted or denied if you meet the requirements. However, keep in mind they can change the requirements any semester without prior notice. Based on how competitive transfer admission is getting, I could definitely see it going up within the next few years, at least for the more competitive majors.

Amberla, is correct about the RETP requirements.

Once you transfer to Georgia Tech you sort of have two GPAs. One is your Tech GPA that starts at zero once you begin here. The other is the HOPE GPA because HOPE looks at all classes taken, ones at Tech and your previous institution.
