Does your major determine what AP Credits are effective in college?

I’m a sophomore who took two AP classes last year (AP Euro and AP Human Geography) as a freshman. I got a passing score on both, and most Florida public colleges will accept my credits. However, I heard from some students that your college major or path might affect your ability to get credits. For instance, I want to either major in finance or engineering. I’m pretty sure that AP Euro isn’t involved in either one of those two, so will I still get credit hours for a history class?

At some universities, your major department may require higher scores to get credit for certain courses (or not allow AP credit at all). For example, an engineering major may not be allowed to receive AP Physics credit.

Depends. You can switch majors pretty easily at a lot of US schools, so in that case, prospective major usually doesn’t influence AP credits.
