My dad owns a lab. Would it be wise to do an internship under him? Or will colleges get suspicious? What if i just mentioned the name of the lab or said i did the internship under one of the laboratory people?

I'm in a similar situation. I worked at my dad's office doing filing and counting stuff some days in the summer (it's the only "summer work experience" I've had), so should I list it anyway under that work experience part?

Just list the lab name and if the application/interviewer asks for a specific person, name a co-worker.

by the way, in no way am i trying to make shortcuts here. My dad would not let me lie and neither do I want to. I would even consider doing a report or something for admissions to have some proof.

bumppppppppppppp

Definitely do it. You have the opportunity and that's all that matters.

i would think that NOT doing it would be perceived as "being lazy and not taking full advantage of the opportunities that you have" if colleges ever knew about it. doing it would be "well, you're lucky you have this opportunity, but at least you took it instead of let it fly out the window."

There is nothing wrong with working for your dad, but there might be a little less suspicion of favoritism if you work in some other lab. Surely your dad has a friend or associate who is head of a different lab who could find a spot for you.
