Doing nothing over the summer?

Does it really hurt your chances of admittance? how many of you are basically doing nothing this summer?

maybe between jr and sr yr. it doesn't even matter anymore what you do over the summer?

well, i don't recommend it, but i'm basically doing nothing this summer, just vacationing for three weeks.

make that six weeks. Also, junior year is quite significant in the admissioon process if you ask me. Junior year is rsi, nasa, and many other research camps year.

well it's summer. just make sure you're not going on the computer 10 hours a day, then eating a galloon of ice cream, then going sitting your butt on the couch for 10 more hours and ... well you get the drift.
At least try to find some volunteer work and catch up on your summer reading.

yeah...its always good to do something during the summer.....even if it is just reading...:)

I'm doing A B S O L U T E L Y nothin. If I had my way, I'd have a job, volunteer at a couple places, and take a class... But instead I'm stuck 25 minutes out of town without anyone willing/able to take me anywhere, so I spend roughly 4 hours reading, 1.5 hours being a human, 3.5 hours online, 10 hours sleeping, and 5 hours twitching on my bed, eyes glazed over, drool dribbling all over myself as I think about the next Harry Potter book. I couldn't do any programs either, because my parents wouldn't/couldn't pay for them or transport me. And I have no summer reading XD. Is my situation necessarily hurting my chances? I mean, it's not like I can become more productive... perhaps spend less time on Harry and computer and more on reading... which I shall attempt, but only AFTER the 6th book comes out. head bangs only 17 more days!!

i'm a rising junior, btw

Yeah it sucks when you can't drive doesn't it?
I remember the days
I'm a rising junior too ;)
Regarding doing nothing in summer b4 senior year, I'm doing all kinds of stuff
More stuff than all the summers before in high school
And i'm doing more stuff now that I can drive
i tried to avoid doing anything before because my parents couldn't ever take me anywhere
and asking people everyday for a ride just got annoying
this year I'm doing the whole enchilada .. 10 or 11 classes hopefully with a job and SAT, ACT, and SAT IIs to prep for

Doing nothing? HA!! yea..right......i have SAT classes four days a week.....i have summer work from the AP classes i'm taking next year.....

All I have to do is read two books for school, with some minor note taking. I was late in researching summer programs and I lost my volunteer form for the hospital. Last year I was a camp counselor and did something around 140 hours of community service. I am a rising junior and have decided to just do some reading and focus a lot on my music. I will be auditioning for some bands outside of school this year and I need practice. Plus, taking a break means I can head into junior year rested and ready.

I'm doing something that is very negligible too. I'm doing a little bit of volunteer work, reading, studying for driver's permit, and etc... I didn't really think that getting a lisence as a highschool student was that important until now...dammit...

Although, I'm thinking of doing more stuffs later on like:
-Studying for SAT (PSAT, since I'm a rising junior)
-Tennis practice
-More of grammar practice (English is my 2nd language, that's why...)

But again, those are just plans after all...

I'm running and working, that's about it.

I'm not doing anything b/c I am going to a leadership camp during the school year.

-Summer Musical (Oklahoma!)
-Summer Reading
-Getting my permit
-APUSH Homework
-CC classes (astronomy and music theory)

i... am quite exhausted
i skipped class today. my brother forgot to wake me up. =</p>

the theatre is a 40 minute drive from my house. rehearsals run from 7.30-10.30 and i get home usually a bit before midnight. then i wake up at 7 for school.

i haven't started my summer reading/homework yet. can you say screwed?
