any of the juniors taking the act for the first time on saturday?

im taking it in april.....

good luck jonoam! if ure taking it..... dont you already have like a 33?

I'm taking them in April too. Our school is making us take practice test every ohter week.

Wow, your school actually tries to prepare you for the ACT. I don't think the people at my school even expect more than half the kids in a class to take the ACT at all, let alone prepare for it. Can you tell I'm a little sick of my school's standards?

Back on topic, I am planning on taking the ACT in April as well, most likely for the last time. I wouldn't be taking it again at all if I had done the writing part back in October, but for some reason I didn't.

im with you eph19 on the school standards thing...you pretty much described my school. i havent taken the test yet, only practice ones. i have a scheduling issue with the april one so this saturday it is! im hoping to get enough of a good score these first few times (maybe in june again? idk yet..) to apply early action

yeah, jonoam, early action is great except if you get in, then you want to do NOTHING second semester. i swear senioritis gets like 10 times worse if you already know you're accepted.

I think I'll be taking all my classes at a local university next year, so I'm hoping that will help prevent any senioritis I might otherwise get. I do think early action is the way to go for me as well. April just seems so long to wait.

ya i want to do early action.... but I thin k my stats are suitable fore RD

Yeah... our school is trying to regain the prestige it once had. We also take alot of pre-test within each class. In my math class, we have to complete ACT packets and in English we take Critical Reading and Verbal pre-test.

oh, dont worry. senioritis wont be a problem for me. the way my school is set up we have completely new classes second semester. of the four, one will most likely be art related-i definitely wont slack off in there. and then ill have at least a few AP classes. might as well get college credit while i can. so while i might not be slackign off, i am VERY impatient..theres no way i could wait so long to find out where im going to college

Hey...ND is great...but if you are interested in journalism, don't overlook Northwestern or U of Missouri. My brother is in J school at Mizzou...the opportunites that he gets and the hands on experience is amazing. Mizzou is the only school in the nation that OWNS their own NBC affiliate. Of course, I want to go to ND, too!!!!

i have never taken an act practice test or anything... but I am taking it for the first time in April....

I heard there isnt any vocab? is this true?

What study tools have u guys used?

If I recall correctly, there were a few vocab type questions in the critical reading section, just words taken out of the reading selection. Not a large vocab section or anything.

I read the tips in Kaplan's ACT book and did a few practice tests out of the book before I took the test in October. Actually, I scored 4 points higher on the real ACT than the practice test I took the week before.

oh wow..... hnmmm ok i think ill take a look into that

Just to break this thread out

When are you guys planning on visiting????

Man, looks like I've been missing out on the '12 party here.

I visited this fall because I know a bunch of people there, and my dad's an alum so he set up a bunch of stuff through guys he knew. Anyways, this is my first post so I'll do the obligatory stats:

State: MI
City: Grand Rapids
High school type: Catholic, about 800 kids
Grade Point avg. UW: 4.0
GPA W: I have no idea. 4.6? Ish? Anyways, rank 1/189
Sat scores/ projected: well, I got a 228 on the PSAT, but I actually studied for the SAT. 2300? I'll know on March 29.
Act scores/ projected: I'll get back to you in a few weeks. Somewhere in the 30s, I'm guessing.
The 1 E.C. that your most proud of: Totally Debate. State semifinalist/quarterfinalist the last two years, 3rd place speaker in league this year.
Athletics: XC (3 years, captain [11]) and Lacrosse (3 years, First team all state [9], Best Midfielder award-team [9+10], named 2nd best player in the region preseason [10], captain [11])
What you like most about ND: Definitely the atmsophere. I'd be a 4th generation domer if I got in, and I was practically raised there.
Scale of 1-10 how badly you want to attend ND in the fall of 08'- 8. I'm an aspiring scientist, and I'm a little leary of the stem cell restrictions.
