Domers of 12'

wow you sound like an amazing student ducktape,

you thinking of going IVY? I mean you have the stats to.

Most students at ND also applied to ivies, in my experience. They just picked the better school.

Also, science is awesome here. We have this new $70E6 science building, which is incredible. Science majors have a sweet deal.

To chillin:
Oh, I hope I didn't sound like I was bragging, then. Sorry if I did.

On the Ivies- We'll see. Right now it's ND, MIT, Brown, UChicago, and U of M (no one shoot me for that last one- my family's already threatened to disown me if I go there).

To Putsch:
Jordan's fantastic, but I'm really interested in pursuing transcription research which isn't as prominent at ND as it is at say, MIT (I didn't just pull this out of the blue- I'm working with a professor at MSU for 9 weeks this summer on a project he and I are designing. I'm totally pumped.). Also, Undergrad research isn't as open and easy to come by as it is at other schools I'm looking at. That's why I'm stuck on ND- I love everything else.

I'm curious as to who told you undergraduate research here was difficult to get into. That is by no means true. I'm involved in research right now, and have the opportunity to do it over the summer if I wish. The university is actually really pushing undergraduate science majors to get involved in research. Because I am not a biology major, I cannot say too much about biology, but I know chemistry and physics have excellent resources.

This was simply based on some searching I did on the Biology department's website and the overall impression I got. When I shadowed a Biochem major, she said she had a research position lined up for a few weeks later and joked that she wasn't really sure what her advisor was doing. That concerned me a little. If you've had a good experience with it, though, that's great. I'd love to hear about it. Maybe I simply got the wrong impression.

Just bringing this thread up

Hey all! I'm glad I found this... I've known for a few months now that I'm totally in love with ND, and I'm visiting TOMORROW!!!!!!! ::happydance::

My stats:
State: OH
City: Springfield (aka Springtucky, our city's in the running to be the host of the Simpson's movie :D)
High school type: public, about 1500 total students, maybe 450ish in my class
Grade Point avg. UW: don't know, i've only ever seen a weighted one
GPA W: 4.4, 4th in my class (coincidence?)
Sat scores/ projected: ugh, don't know yet. PSAT was a 202 but I'm hoping the SAT will be better
Act scores/ projected: taking it in 2 days, i'm PRAYING for a 33-34
The 1 E.C. that your most proud of: probably dance or theatre, hard hard work for most of my life
Athletics: hehe no... but i love college football, my dad's a buckeye so him adjusting to ND might be tough
What you like most about ND: Catholicism (chapels in dorms, the Basilica, grotto, etc), closeness in dorms, academics, athletics, just that general good feeling
Scale of 1-10 how badly you want to attend ND in the fall of 08'- right now- 8, but only because i'm worried about not being able to afford it (middle class gets the short end of the stick), but i'm sure tomorrow will put me over the top!!!

I'll post about my visit in the college visit thing and chillin i'll send you a PM still. Good luck to all of us future Domers!

nice

Im taking the ACT on saturday too.....

a bit nervous...Im sure we will both do fine though

Good Luck to you both. I take it in two weeks along with the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE).

I'm crossing my fingers, and you can bet i'll send up a few Hail Marys (for all of us) when I'm in the Basilica... tomorrow!!!!!! Is it terrible that i'm the only one in my family who's totally thrilled about this?

ahha not at all

Im sure they will fall in love with it tomorrow ( if they are going )

Thanks Notredamebrother! Hopefully we will all be classmates in a year or so

I surely hope so; as of now, my top choice is a three-way tie between Notre Dame/NYU/Cornell.

Ok, the college visit thing on here isn't working (for some reason they don't have ND listed) and I'm probably just buying in to the marketing thing they have going on right now, but I honestly believe that there's nowhere else but Notre Dame. It's so hard to describe. I've heard people say that it has a soul, and after visiting today, I just know it's true. There's just something genuinely special about ND.

If anyone has specific questions about my visit, I'd love to answer anything. I can't wait til we're all ND Class of '12!!!!!!!

Im so excited to go... its unreal

Its my birthday today......... so i received some new nd gear for my visit on tuesday

I just cant wait..... tell me how it went!

ND Class of 12'........................... hopefully!

Happy Birthday chillin! :)

Happy Birthday Chillin . Good luck to all you 2012 keep studying and have faith that you will wind up where you are supposed to be

thanks guys!

Dancing feet............... Howd u do on the act?

Well, after taking the test I didn't think it was that bad, but after reading the ACT thread on here i'm not so sure... idk. It'll be interesting to see the scores, are you getting yours early?

Oh! and how was your flight???
