ALL ACCEPTANCE THREADS SHOULD BE POSTED TOMORROW AFTER 3PM

Part of the reason for “policing” (although I wouldn’t call it that) is just an attempt to make things easier for this year and next year’s applicants. Go to any thread last March/April, and you tell me if it’s easy to slog through and find useful info. It can be done (and there’s plenty of helpful info!) - but it sure isn’t easy! Don’t view people too harshly for trying to make it easier or better for this year. They’re just trying to improve upon the chaos that ensued last year. That’s really all it is…

The TomtheCat thread is ready to be posted for tomorrow afternoon/evening!!!

You are awesome @needtoboard. Thank you!!

It does make it seem easier to do so. But we know there’ll be that ONE person who always does the Exie Andover thread. I mean, there’s tons of these threads. You could just type in Andover vs Exeter in the search, you know.

What about the “I got into Choate, but I don’t really want to go. But I was waitlisted at Andover, should I go there?”

Or worse: “I got into Choate and Andover, is Choate as good? Or will it be too easy?”

Does anyone know what happened to that thread with the list of active parents/kids attending schools who were willing to share info? I think if people knew who to ask a lot of questions could be answered through PM rather than tons of threads. I’m pretty sure that would make both sides happy.

And I also agree with @mrnephew Chances are if you look up the two schools you are deciding between, some one has been in the same situation before and already started a thread. Look before you ask. It could spare some happy souls and make it easier for you as well.

Moderators always block the ask me threads. Something about not contributing to forum experience.

re: Moderators locking “Ask Me” threads…I think the issue moderators have is that they often go orphaned…when a student starts a thread then never/rarely returns to answer questions that people have asked.

I didn’t mean to create an “Ask Me” thread. I meant that if the names of those people were listed, people could easily private message them.

<a href=“BS Parent Resource List - Prep School Parents - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-parents/1283753-bs-parent-resource-list.html

Instead of “Ask Me” threads we should make a “Let’s Talk About School X” thread where everyone can ask and answer questions.

Does anyone know how to pin a thread?

@needtoboard…you have to ask an admin/moderator. I have been in contact with one recently and was going to ask that they pin the 2014 “Official” results as well as the “2014 ‘TomTheCat’” one.

Thank you @SevenDad

FYI, if you are a current or recently graduated student (or the parents of one) and wish to field questions about you prep school, feel free to add to the list in the thread linked above by PhotographerMom. Of course, doing so assumes you are comfortable with people knowing the school(s) with which you are associated!

Thank You @PhotographerMom

I was hoping that was the one you were looking for :)

Thank you! I HOPE that I will need to utilize this resource.

Now that decisions are starting to roll in for many of my friends, I’m beginning to see more of the OP’s side. Though I am extremely happy for them (like I was literally screaming WITH them), I can’t help but feel more stressed and worried for my own results. I only applied to TSAO schools, so I’ll have to wait until Monday. But I am starting to see what it feels like to have to experience everyone else’s happiness vicariously (hope I used that word right) while still waiting for my own.
