Well, D finished all of her apps last night. I want to thank everyone here for their advice and insight, while I don't post all that much, reading these boards has been so helpful to both my D and myself.
She still has a copule of scholarship apps to do, but says she is "taking off" until after Thanksgiving and then she will get to work on those. They aren't due until Jan/Feb, so I agreed not to bug her during her down time.
She applied to 9 schools, all of which she claims she would be happy to attend, in fact, she is now wondering how she will make the decision once the acceptances come in. Money will be an issue so I am glad she will be happy at any of them. What she did do was put them in "tiers" from the ones she would most like to attend down to the ones she would least likely to attend.
In case anyone is interested, she wants to study journalism/communications and political science, has a 1410 old SAT, 2020 new SAT, GPA of 3.7 with a rigorous schedule in a very competitive and well know HS, and a nice list of EC's.
Her top tier choices are: Columbia, Northwestern, American & Penn State
Second tier is: NYU, Miami & Syracuse
Thirs tier is: Ithaca & Marist.
I think she has quite a nice mix of reaches, matches and safeties.
Penn State decision is in the mail, hopefully we receive today, then she will relax a bit, since we went there this weekend and she LOVED it. Even if she didn't get into any other school, she's be thrilled with PS.
Good luck to everyone, and thanks again!!!!

Sounds like she had a plan and worked the plan. Good for y'all.

We are not that far behind. She has six completely done and sent. D has three why ______ essays, one special app to a particular program, and one scholarship app and she's done with all the matches and safeties (some of which are financial reaches). All that's left are lottery reaches. I'm feeling that we may just live through this. D is very upbeat because she loves her matches and safeties and really hasn't focused much attention on the reaches. :( Maybe soon.

You guys, read my "cheerio's diet" post. Once the applications go out, the landmines of second-guessing can give a whole new meaning to parental angst. :)

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone's kids!

Congratulations on being "done"! S is finished with 5,has 3 to go.It feels like we're pulling teeth here.I cant wait till this parts over.He just finished the worst of all, a particular schools scholarship app.
She's got some great journalism choices there..hope it works out for her!

i'm jealous... 3 down... 5 to go haha
