Villanova is terrible. It’s a Friday night and I currently have nothing to do, so I’m just sitting in my dorm while all my friends at other schools are having a good time. I know they say Villa-no-fun is a myth but it could not be any more true, this university is horrible.

Did you go to school for an education? Or to party?

Do you always expect opportunity to come to you?
Disgruntled student or rejected applicant?
There are lots of “best party school” rankings online. Check them, do your due diligence by visiting on a Friday night, and then apply to transfer. (Oh, and don’t bother sitting in on a class or two while you are there–that’s a waste of time.)
When I see post like this I always wonder, what was the poster like in high school. If they sat home on a Friday night in HS what makes them think that College would be any different. Going to college doesn’t automatically change things for you.
Also, an education is more than just the class work and grades. An education is also about learning how to be on your own without your parents doing things for you. Its about learning how to adjust and find balance between the class work and the social aspect and being responsible for your own life.
I find it hard to believe that there is not a social scene at Villanova or any school. My best advice would be to leave your dorm room. It’s hard to meet people and find the social scene if you are sitting in a dorm room. Get out and walk around, go to the student union or rec center and find people.
Most schools have areas where people post all kinds of social stuff, parties, bands, etc. Is there not a bar or something next to school where kids hang out? Social opportunities come to those that seek them, not those that sit in their room and wait for the party to come to them.
First/only post.
This evening, leave your dorm room. See what is happening in the common rooms.
@asdfakldfj Ok. College is major adjustment. Every aspect of your life is now in your control. Force yourself to go out and be where other students are hanging out. Join one of the many clubs on campus. Did you not receive the email from Villanova regarding all the student activities being held over this long weekend? BBQ, hypnotist, trip to Hershey Park? In addition, I know there is a two day concert in Philly that some students were going to attend. These activities may not be things that interest you but at least try and go meet some new people. Socializing may take some more effort than it did in high school. There are many students who are probably feeling exactly how you are but you will never meet them if you don’t leave your room. Best tip I ever received when I went to college was leave your dorm room open whenever you are there! Good luck and I hope you start to have some fun!
@asdfakldfj
Your feeling of loneliness during the first few weeks of school are common to many at colleges everywhere. There is nothing about Villanova that makes it any different.
Nearly everyone gets through this. Though if you do and how quickly is 100% up to you.
