When my daughter auditioned two years ago she was CERTAIN she only wanted a BFA. Acting was her passion and nothing else mattered…fast forward two years and she has discovered through her BA that she is in love with Stage Managing and has just been asked by the head of the playwriting department if they could produce one of the plays she has written. I don’t think she ever would have found these wonderful opportunities if she has been so narrowly focused. Stay open, stay hungry, stay motivated…
That’s exciting! My D has a wide interest about theatre, not just performance aspect of it, but also stage management as well as the business side. So the theatre programs she applied for are the ones that would allow her to pursue dual-degree in arts management or business degree as well. Some are BFA, while others are BA.
