My daughter and 2 friends are stranded in Paris due to British Airways canceling their flight twice. Finally yesterday they were told "You are on your own-- we can't help you get home" Now flights to the US are over $2000 one way. They were told they would receive a $100 voucher-- to help pay for being stuck for 7 nights. So if you are going to Europe-- pick a different airline. Students on other airlines are all home by today

Oh my goodness! There are truly no words. How can they simply strand them in a foreign country? I hope everything is okay and they get home safely by Christmas!

In all fairness you can’t blame the weather on an airline.

This article gives you some information on your rights in such a case.

However, this is nothing to do with BA specifically, though they are unlucky enough to have the most planes frozen to the ground at their home airport. The weather is affecting everyone. I suspect the travellers are demanding to be home by Christmas. There simply aren’t enough flights between today and Saturday to repatriate all the travellers stuck in Europe. So if you can wait, the original airline should sort things out. But if not, they can simply refund your ticket and tell you to make your own way home.
