Freshman year I took all honors classes and got all A's and one B+. I did just as fine the first quarter of sophmore year. But then something happened that was completely out of my control (that my guidance counselor can back up) that caused me to miss alot of school causing my grades to drop to D's and F's. To this day I am having trouble bringing my grades up (I am in the middle of junoir year) and I am starting to fear that college will no longer be an option, as I am now going to have trouble even graduating high school. I know that I am smart and I find endless joy in learning, but how will I be able convince colleges that I can be successful when my grades say otherwise?

Test scores...keep working hard...and explain it in your personal statement/other college essays

You'll be fine. :) Just keep trying.

That is tough. I understand that some schools are particulary sensitive and understanding about conditions that you had no control over. If you can convince them that you are a good student, good test scores would help, some schools will aceept you as an 'exception.'

I personally would recomend you looking into a community college nearby. It sounds to me that your personal situation is still impacting you as your still in the middle of making stuff up into your junior year. Community College is made with people like you in mind, and you could spend two years getting back to school and then your options will be endless since most states have deals with their universities and community colleges.

I second Cali Trumpet. You have plenty of options with community and state colleges that will allow you to attend college, and then potentially transfer elsewhere later. If you can show that you are constantly moving to improve your performance as a student, it will be much better in the future in terms of applying to colleges rather that giving up or taking a year off or something. Good luck; I hope it all works out!

I was kinda in the same situation with the same kinda classes and grades as you... missed a lot of school due to illness,I left my public school halfway through my sophomore year with , but I got to virtually skip my junior year and join a boarding school as a senior. My transcript is really bizarre, with me taking a lot of junior classes inorder for me to make the graduation requirements, but I explained my situation in my personal statement and college interviews. I have already got into college, I'm sure it will work out for you too!

just hope for the best
