There's a section on the Georgetown app that says:

Please indicate any special talents or skills which you possess.

I don't consider myself an extremely talented person in any sense, but music plays a large role in my life and I am a good singer...so this was my answer.

"I consider myself a pretty good vocalist and have been singing in groups / bands until the age of 15. I have advanced to the finals in several local contests and was in Regional Choir during middle school. As my taste in music changed, I stopped participating in choir and focused on activities outside of school instead, such as competing in contests, singing lead in bands, and taking private voice lessons. If I am accepted to Georgetown, I plan on continuing as a vocalist."

So...that's probably crap, but I don't know what else they'd want. Comments, suggestions?

When I was applying for freshman admission, I wrote about organizational and management skills, because I honestly don't have any special talents. It seemed to be the consensus on the Georgetown board, and it made sense at the time, but unfortunately I was still rejected. So I don't know how much that'll help.

Nspeds - do you mind telling me what "special talents" you listed? Maybe in a PM if you don't want to post that info on the main board. I'm just wondering what constitutes a special skill, as I can think of plenty of random skills (like goyoungha has said), but I immediately thought of singing when I saw the word talent.

I thought about putting I can type 95 words per minute and am double jointed in my thumbs and shoulders as a joke...but I'm not sure how they'd take it. :D

I'm not really into the whole PMing thing anymore.

Anyways, I listed a lot of things about myself that I thought made me who I am: saxophone player, web designer, programmer, and so forth. I also submitted an activity list that substantiated these claims, though (ie. participation in honors band for saxophone, and so forth).

Don't be too scared by the question. Just give a very candid response, and many questions on applications in general are extremely flexible, meaning that you don't have to be an Olympics skater in order to write down "talented in figure skating." Write qualities or activities that are particular to you and which you've been developing for a prolonged period of time.
