Chaostheory, watch for your uses of your tenses, it's not consistent, there I helped you get better.

Thank you, Masterus. :)

Do you want me to go deeper? Ok, I will, you improperly used "Of". When you use "that" it should be "Whom or Who" since you are describing a person. "It takes not much of a person to become critical." Revise Sentence Structure. If you're trying to act "wise", you should used The severity of humans are easily released. See it's short and sounds more advance that yours. There are all these little things, which I don't want to talk about.

it bugs me when ppl talk about college admissions with VERY disillusioned information. just about no one knows there are 8 schools in the ivy league, let alone that MIT and Stanford are not in it.

and i hate when people tell me i should apply to harvard. smart people do other things with their lives than go to harvard.

^ I get that too. One time in class I was reading something I wrote and it had a few big words in it and I also answered someone's vocab question and the guy says to me, "You're going to Harvard." What? Since when did answering a few vocab questions and having a good vocabulary ensure admission to Harvard?
That is sad.

I get the "you're going to Harvard" thing a lot, too. I don't even want to go to Harvard, but I think that people make assumptions if you do well in school...

There's this one -really- arrogant kid at my school who is convinced he's going to Harvard/Princeton or UChicago. No one even cared about him untill we took the ACT, and he got the highest in the school's history (and not a 36). He thinks he's going to ride the fact that he's a three-sport varsity athlete with a high ACT into the Ivy League...he's so full of parties on the weekends like everyone else.

Well, some kids have got to make up the ~90% rejected at Ivies. Better them than you!

i'm sure you guys don't mean it and their so called ignorance bothers you but this thread seems very elitist...

are they going to get rejected by the ivy leagues? probably

do they know less about university admissions than you? definitely

does that make them worse than you? of course not

I agree with young_one. Whatever you may think about their college chances, there's no reason to bash them. Either let them know so they can spend their time looking into better fits, or just ignore them. It's not like they're hurting you or your chances, and it doesn't mean you're inherently better than them.

And as for Masterus... your grammar's off. ;)

I hate the random Harvard t-shirts from average students. I've seen at least 5 at my school and none of them in my class are applying. I also hate people who misspeak about the Ivy League as if they know what it is, mainly my American Government teacher, who said that William and Mary was Ivy League. She also said that the population ratio of women to men in the US is 3:1, having no idea how ridiculous of a statement it was. And she's the social studies department head!?!

but it's so easy to laugh...so easy to hate...:p it's just so sad when the entire school feeds into this student's ego, "[so and so] is going to Harvard". Aye the disillusionment.

Actually, I'm just really bitter that NO ONE has heard of the school that's my first choice. :(

I got a little annoyed when some kids were talking about "how easy it is to get into Oxford because they want Americans". Um, it's definitely, definitely not.

it's not that bad . . . here we see a lot of Princeton shirts but it's only because the university is nearby. But it was a little sad when I saw one of the mentally retarded kids come to school dressed in a Princeton shirt. Not to be mean in any way, but it reminded me of a parent's dashed hopes and dreams.

Well if they're rich enough, they can go wherever they like. Why do you even care? The ivy league isn't really a big deal anymore anyway. Plus it's none of your business where she's going, so you shouldn't worry about it.

Er, was that post directed at me?

No, schrizto, the first poster.

on the topic of tshirts/sweatshirts...some kids where them for pride of their [hopefully] future institutions...some just wear it for kicks. a couple kids at my school have harvard sweatshirts, but i know they're definitely not applying. on the contrary, i have a depaul sweatshirt and though i might apply, its definitely not my first choice. i have georgetown, uchicago tshirts...neither which are prospective for me. i just like college apparel--others may too.

plus, harvard stuff is pretty much a signature boston souvenir. they sell sweatshirts for like 10 dollars on the street. although i say this as a midwesterner, where our stuff would be the result of tourism. :p

I've never heard an "average" student talk about going to an Ivy League at my school. Then again, it might just be because IB students at my school are secluded form everybody.

This phenomenon seems to be quite common, but not so at my school. I don't know if I should be happy (I won't get annoyed) or sad (they are some of the most under-ambitious sots I've ever met).

Oh well...

Goodness gracious! How I hate the delusional! There's this megalomaniac at my school who kind of antagonizes me for obvious reasons. Her grades suck, yet she brags about how she's destined for Colombia. She's too lazy to get off her fat arse, so of course she's not in any AP classes.

There's a kid who thinks he'll get into Harvard 'cause his brother made it. He's not extraordinary or anything, and though he's a legacy, his tangents pretty much disgust me.

There's a lot of people in my classes who have dismal grades, yet they always talk about how they want to be the valedictorian. Sorry pals, but that spot is taken by me. Kill me then, why don't you?

People come up to me and say they'll beat my G.P.A., as if it's a matter I constantly have to worry about. Figuratively, they are stupidly plotting my "assasination."

Anyway, I'm glad this thread was created. Gives me an opportunity to rant and bash.

Oh... and I forgot. I absolutely hate it when the preppy and foolish wear Stanford hoodies with an "I'm better than thou" attitude. Please. Get real.

Hopefully no one from my school sees this.
