Gee, I wonder who else comes off with a "higher than thou" air...

Eh, I'm not irked by it. I feel a bit of pity, really, since they're going to have to face reality some time, and it's going to be one long fall onto a concrete floor. I sincerely hope that they wise up, and not face rejection by every college they apply to.

Last year, a new kid entered my AP U.S. class a quarter way through the year. Reason? He was EXPELLED from his last school for bringing 30 bottles of Vodka to homecoming. Oh, and he was arrested. Oh, and convicted (of what, I'm not sure).

Sure, he's taking a few APs, but when he talks about how he's going to take the LSAT before he graduates (yes, people, the LSAT) and go to Oxford, it's just sad.

Well, what else can you think when you're surrounded by incomptent fools?

Anyway, you seem to be very nice. Very benevolent. I could never be like that. However, rejection is salutary in some situations and is especially best faced when you've lost touch with reality. Maybe they need to be dropped onto a concrete floor.

Ah, I guess...

It's just, I could never think that way of someone, even with all my cynicism and sarcasm. :(

I guess something's wrong with me.

haha, about people not knowing which schools are in the Ivy League (someone brought it up a few posts ago):
When I got into Duke a couple of days ago, my guidance counselor was like, "Oh, that's amazing! That's an IVY LEAGUE school, you know!" and I was just like, "Uhhh...yeah!" I couldn't correct her, she was too happy.

everyone i know who wears a college sweatshirt just does it because they either went there or it's a nice school. i have a yale sweatshirt someone gave me. and a uic sweatshirt because i went there for camp, even though uic is like the worst school ever (univ. illinois- chicago)

Yeah I feel you. One girl in my class got a 5 on AP Euro last year and now thinks she is a "lock for ivies". She's also a horrendous academic team captain who never answers a single question but gets away with her incompetence by pulling a "goody two-shoes" act on our opponents and moderator. Lol, she even got our advisor against me, and I'm the leading scorer and supposed "President." I'm not gonna go on a tangent now and talk about academic team and talk about how "good" I am (I'm really a below average player, we just play bad opponents because we ARE a bad team), but let's just say she's in for a rude awakening next winter LOL.

I don't really see very many disillusioned kids at my school. I personally see more dumb blonds that aspire to go to beauty school or community college than ones that want to go to Harvard.
