For those aspiring to go to USAFA or those who have already committed, there is a Blog out there with information about life at the Academy written from the perspective of a 4th year cadet.

I'm assuming that's your son. He takes BEAUTIFUL pictures. Thank you for sharing his blog. My D will be in the class of 2012 and we're also from NC.

Yes, that is my son. Thanks for the compliment on his photography. As soon as Recognition is over, he will have a great deal more flexability to take many more photos, so stay tuned.

If you are coming from Eastern NC, be sure to check out www.usafapcenc.org for information on joining the parents club. The website is still under construction, but there is still some useful information there.

Ha, no way! I know Nico, we have a couple classes together. Those are some nice pictures and a nice blog; there's a lot of good information there.

Glad you liked it. Spread the word. Hopefully lots of others will find it useful too. Frankly, I don't know how he has the time to do it with all his classes and other stuff.

You would probably be better served to ask him that question by posting to his blog. I sent them to him even before parents weekend and he was allowed to have them. I was a bit surprised too. I know a lot of parents wait until parents weekend and then they go shop for this type of items. It was a much more enjoyable weekend not having to worry about getting any of these items or carting them up to his room. We did buy a printer during PW, but only because prior to that, he was convinced he didn't need one because his roommate had one. But definately go back to his blog and ask as I know he will be happy to answer questions there.

Your son's photography is amazing. What an artistic eye he has. I also read some of his blog. Since my D will be there is just about 4 months, I enjoyed reading his blog about "a day in the life." At this point the more knowledge I have the less stress and anxiety I feel.
Did I happen to mention that I'm beginning to feel a bit stressed??? Do you know what your son's summer assignments are? Any chance he will be around to take pics during BCT?

Thanks for the compliments. He really is finding his voice in his photos. The photography club at USAFA has been a great help to him.

His summer assignments are OPS, Jump/GE, leave. So, although he will be on campus for Jump/GE, he probably won't be anywhere near BCT.

Don't worry though, you will have Webguy, just like us 2011 parents did. Nothing like sorting through 500 pictures hoping to spot your cadet. I had several shots of my son, or so I thought. When he came home at Thanksgiving, he said "who is that". Apparently not him. They all look the same.

if he is around though, I am sure he will have his camera with him and be posting as often as he can.

Actually, the issue was not with the blog or the content of the blog and there are cadet blogs out there if you search google, you will find them.

I love his work, beautiful eye. I can't wait until I can see more of his work. I was lucky enough to be able to get a photo of our cadet while in BCT this past summer. He made my day! It is on our fridge and has been this whole Doolie year. As soon as he can, we plan to hire him for some photos if he is doing that kind of thing. Bright, bright new star. Thank you Nick!
