Academy Shots

Hey --

I’ve never actually been to USAFA and what I’ve seen of it is limited to Google Images and academy literature.

I was wondering if any current cadets or former Summer Seminar participants had pictures that they’d like to share from the actual on-campus experience?

Much thanks …

I have tons. I'll post some when I get back from Spring Break. Want pictures of anything in particular?

I guess the campus itself and anything you find interesting or exciting. Thanks much!

Okay, I'm bumping this up so I don't forget to respond to it in the next few days.

UNcynical?

Also.. I'm pretty much obsessed with looking at USAFA pictures all of the time and I'm often on this website:

<a href="http://www.usafa.af.mil/cadetFocus/cadetPhotos/index.cfm%5B/url%5D">http://www.usafa.af.mil/cadetFocus/cadetPhotos/index.cfm</a></p>

It has pictures from previous classes and most of the events they went through (e.g. BCT). :)

I also check out those pictures often. Can't wait to be in some of them!

I've got some pics from my trip out there in Feb:
<a href="http://rpi.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2003426&l=752ba&id=17504725%5B/url%5D">http://rpi.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2003426&l=752ba&id=17504725</a></p>

C___r,

Hey, what's the deal with the drab pics with no people in them? A____n brought home some stylish shots of you in Nitro's room. I thought Speedos were restricted to the pool house.

He's really looking forward to joining you on the Cross team. Out of the recruits, he says he hit it off best with you. Are you competing this track season?

Looks like 'Big Naked' is having a banner year running the 800 meters. Since all the track team members get nicknames maybe you two should conspire to dub each other with a good moniker. After all, why take a chance that some 1st Class guy labels you 'Little Naked'?

Hey, Mr. F_____e! Shhh, don't tell anyone about those pictures, they weren't supposed to leave that room...

So he's decided that AF is the place he wants to be? That's awesome. We got along great. I can't wait to compete either-though I'll be sitting out the XC season freshman year, but I'll be good to go for Indoor freshman year (Since I competed in XC and Indoor here at RPI, I'll have to sit out a season of XC and a season of Indoor, and Coach Stanforth and I have agreed that sitting out XC freshman year and Indoor Sophmore year would be best).

I've been diligently checking the results of their track meets, and "Big Naked" is having an exceptional year, along with a bunch of the other guys. From what I hear, he does deserve that name (a peculiar locker room habit of his).

Anyways, is A____n going to be heading out to the Academy the day before? If so, we should get in touch with each other before we leave to see about maybe getting together (also, maybe we can get a few of the other recruits together as well) the night before I-Day.

Patriot CPM,

I think that not having to run Cross your first year will be advantageous. Coach Stanforth doesn't count on too much out of the doolies because they get out of shape during the six weeks of BCT. After basic they can get into training and some may make a bit of a splash near the end of the season.

We'll be taking a week-long trip to deliver our doolie to the Academy. It'll take us that long to get over the idea of losing the only one in the family capable of cognitive thought. Maybe we can get together the night before I-Day, the day they treat you like a red-headed stepchild and poke you full of holes.

I posted some of the pictures brought home from the recruiting trip. They're on a separate page that I made on my cycling site...Just for you!

<a href="http://www.cycling-review.com/usafa.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.cycling-review.com/usafa.html</a></p>

Thanks! I must say, that is a great collection of photos. As shown in those photos, my manly physique and boyish good looks could easily make me the next posterboy for the Academy's recruiting campaign. All they need now is to get their hands on the one of me in my speedo, flexing with all my might, directly in front of the picturesque Chapel/Mountain Range combination.

Yeah, that's exactly the reason Coach Stanforth and I reasoned for why it would be better to not do XC the first season. I'll still get to practice with the team and maybe even run in a few meets unattached, so I can kindof postpone the pressure/stresses of racing for one season as I get adjusted to the Academy lifestyle.

Sounds at least like you'll have some real fun for a week before sending your son off. We'll definitely have to try and get together the night before I-Day (I believe I'll be flying in the day before I-Day, should get in sometime in the afternoon).

Here's a set of pics I got while there. Enjoy.

And Cohan in there is the Colam on these boards. :)

The sky always looks awesome in Colorado.

Nice pictures, hornetguy.

It sucks today and yesterday. Freezing cold and very low clouds, snowed a little overnight.

But I got my boots which are awesome so I am happy!

texas falcon, where you there on sunday? It was like 70 and sunny, the next day it was freezing and snowing...gotta love the weather...

My computer recently crashed so I'm not really in the position to put my photos online (although they are backed up). However, here is an album with a TON of Academy pictures (among other things). If you click on the images you can see bigger versions of them, and if you click on "view full image" you can see them even bigger. I apologize for the delay in response to this thread. (Also, things here have been a bit busy ;) )

I was thinking about posting some pics, but you've pretty much covered that base...

If you still have pics you want to post, go for it - the more the merrier.
