I am so happy to know that webguy will be posting photos of our Golden Cadets! He already has one photo up of the ones who flew in yesterday as they waited for their Bed and Breakfast hosts in Doolittle Hall.

I will be looking for my guy tonight. He has been staying with friends in CO Springs all this week getting used to the altitude. I am hoping he will be easy to spot in group photos since he in 6’4" .

Just be aware that most of the pictures you see of "your kid" will not actually be him/her. As sure as you are that you will be able to pick your offspring out of any crowd, don't be surprised if you join the 99.9% of parents who make the mistake of misidentifying a basic cadet. ;)

Well UNcynical, when you posted your comment, I started to post something like, "I'm a mother. I'd know my baby anywhere." I'm glad I didn't. I looked through every Webguy photo and every AOG photo. No son. Well, I do keep looking at one photo that could be my son. Unfortunately, he started the week with severe blisters from a ten mile hike on Sunday, so I guess it could be him with a very pained look on his face. / :

I thought the cadets would be wearing their combat boots, but everyone has on tennis shoes. Is that new this year? I was actually glad to see them considering the condition of my son's feet, but I was surprised.

Tennis shoes: same as last year. Don't worry, they'll be wearing boots soon enough! Webguy is great. I have about a dozen pictures of son taken last year all through BCT. They were great. A film interview as well - I was very lucky. Make sure you know your son/daughter's squadron since webguy will begin to categorize his pictures that way in a few days.

That is great. When do they start wearing their boots? How do you know what squadron your son/daughter is in? I wrote a letter and asked my daughter...but if there is a way to know sooner...I would LOVE to know. Thanks!

Boots will start being worn within a week. There are some formalities in wearing them, very simple, to learn (how to blouse them) and just to give them some time to acclimate to the exercise before putting boots on.

Unless your Basic called you to let you know their squad on I-day, you will have to wait for a letter. On average, letters to and from houston for me had about a 4 day travel time.

Here's a number you can call to get the squadron: 719-472-0300 I called it and was able to get my son's. As for pictures, I've scoured through them one by one and still no pics of son. :-(

to help break in the boots, they are not worn full time. shoes will be worn part day, and boots will be worn part day. this helps with getting their feet adjusted rather than throwing them straight into them.

This is Falcons '11's mom - I am borrowing his name while he's at BCT. Webguy is great - I really appreciate the daily schedule. No picts on his page but did find one of son on AOG on the gold footprints - I'll keep looking. Son is a Flying Tiger now. Hornetguy - how long until they have access to PO Box?

Hello I'm also bottowing my daughters address while at BCT. For an answer to the squadron question, I called the AOG and they were very happy to help me out. Basic Cadet Kelcie Meineke squadron #7,G-GUTS, B-Flight for summer. Not sure if I formated this correctly but I'm sure someone will be earger enough to correct me.

Flying Tigers huh. That is 21-24.
Guts is squadrons 25-28. So Kelcie is squadron 26 I believe.

Depending on the flight cadre will determine when they have access to their PO box. Could have been yesterday, might not be till tomorrow. But they usually have mail call for sending mail every night or so.
