"Doolie Fair"

According to the “Webguy” the end of BCT which is today will be celebrated with an activity titled “Doolie Fair”. These young men and women truly deserve a nice party with some entertaining tunes. I hope they all have a wonderful time tonite and enjoy and celebrate this deserving moment. Good luck in Academics Class of 2011…Werner

yeah, its over today, cause this morning i awoke at 8 with basics in the hallway moving there stuff (i'm over in Sijan). so they're moving and what not. they recieve computers next Tuesday, so by wednesday they can probably log back on to the real world

haha, the real world... when do classes start?

Thursday Aug 9th. Acceptance Parade is on the 8th.

ah awesome... do they still use the m-day t-day schedule, or just the same classes every day? i've never been clear on that

m-day t-day schedule starts thursday. the confusing part is that "M" and "T" do not correspond to certain days of the week. it would probably be easier to think of as 1 and 2 or blue and silver (but that would get confusing with the weekends)

Okay- I'm sure I should know this, but I'll claim old age (VBG)
what is the differance between the two ???

It's just what classes you have on what days.

I was woken up by basics trying to move in. When my room mate yelled NO from his bed while they were staring they promptly closed the door and ran away. :)

Be nice Hornet you there a short while ago....But then again you have earned the right to snap a little.

He didn't snap, it was his roommate. :P

You have to be that way sometimes, though. A couple girls in our squadron area had their stuff "hijacked" by basics that moved in...they moved it all somewhere and they couldn't find it again...big time bummer.

lol thanks for that G4C.

It is best to be stern with the basics. If they get the first impression of you as too easy, then the proper respect in the squad and for you individually might start out poorly.

However, that did not stop me from throwing lots of candy into their rooms as I walked by. I thought one basic was going to fall over backwards standing at attention when I offered him the latest harry potter book to read. He had no idea what to say. lol. Just sucks when he decides to finish it since I am down a hallway far away with all the firsties and leadership.

evil evil hornetguy :) but you DID throw candy, like santa riding on a firetruck during the christmas parade! hahaha what do the basics do for the next few days? seems like they have some off-time

I am sure the candy was both welcome and surprising Hornet. The HP book must really have been a very special surprise. Truly a nice thing. If you see potterfan today be kind we had to break some very bad news to her yesterday with the help of the Chaplains and her AOC

our transition time at the p was mostly just like briefings and buying stuff :)

barely any free time

The basics have a lot of free time now though. Right now they are in a series of briefings, but I don't think they had much of anything else on the schedule.

Will keep that in mind ds.

I also saw (with candy :) ) Bluemer and 07PETKO yesterday. Both doing well I might add. :)

Hey hornetguy it's nice to see you taking care of the 4digs. NH read Harry Potter in 1 day while on leave but left the book here for her sister. She returned to the Hill wearing her Harry Potter T-shirt, NH said she told you I'm a geek because I put in my two cents worth. I am the Director of the Language Resource Center here at UNLV so computers are kinda my business although I don't post much. You get a big "Attah Boy" for all the great info that you have provided for all those inquiring minds.

lol. I told her that makes me a geek too. She wasn't convinced. :)

I take no credit. I think its important that people have as much info as possible (except in certain areas that they really don't need to know) and with the academies, a guide helps so much.

I'm getting excited as well, with the large amount of 2011s on CC, we may start having a larger community here of CC. I think this helps very much for events like orientation. That way you have contacts to help and some insiders for motivation. I absolutely love seeing the smiles on the basics faces when I toss them candy. It's genuine and, having been there before, I know it makes a difference.

The WebGuy has a great picture from the Doolie Fair of three of our very own CC'ers online today. Bluemer, bnanaroberts, and redhead89 are in his album "Basics Attack Webguy - Part 2". No pics of my son, but at least I got to see some kids I know.
