Dorm Advice

Any advice on which dorm to pick? I'm in computer science and business administration, I'd like something social but potentially with kids in the same major and not too far away from classes. I'd also like to be near a nice parking complex, though that's not too important

I've heard Birnkrant and Pardee are good if you want to be social and study... also the radisson apparently is pretty good cause although the floors are quiet if you go down to the lobby there are always people there. This is second hand information though, but it came from USC students (including someone who lived in Pardee freshmen year) so I think its pretty accurate.

Yeah I would also be interested in any advice people have on dorms... When I visited I saw Birnkrant which looked nice, and a student told me to choose that as my first, then also New and North as the two other good ones.

Birnkrant.

I have the same major, and I'm probably going to put Birnkrant as my first choice. I may still do New/North though, not completely sure yet....

any dorm recommendations for Engineering major?

If I'm not mistaken, Parkside is very close to the engineering buildings, and it's a great dorm. You can apply for either the International side or the Arts & Humanities side. Don't let the "arts" part of PAHRC intimidate you. My son's application to the special interest community just said he liked to play music and make movies, and there's a wide variety of kids there. Parkside has what's widely believed to be a better cafeteria, and the theme communities there have some benefits. The resident faculty at PARHC are great - they invite students over, and there are many opportunities to hear speakers and meet interesting people. This week, my son and about 20 other students got to have dinner with President Sample, and hear a "state of the university" report.

My friend at USC says the Radisson used to be okay but now it's terrible, and I think it's a bit tougher to be social. So I'd avoid that.

Aww, really? I was looking forward to the Radisson. I mean, I understand that you can't really create too much noise in the hallways, but I heard, socially-wise anyway, it just depends on how fun your floor is. Eh.

Pardee/Marks Tower and New/North would be your best bet.. all close together and next to parking garages. Also pretty social, especially New/North.

I just did Birnkrant, North Res, New Res, Pardee Tower, Marks Tower

Thanks for your help
