He has to share a closet. As a girl, that would irk me. But, as a slob - er, I mean boy - that doesn't seem to matter to him. ;)

DougBetsy,
My son lived in Bostwick last year and the closets are actually a pretty good size for a boy. The closet is actually shaped like an upside down l_l. My son and his roomate each took one side and the back wall had double shelves (which went around the whole closet) and hooks. The shelves are great but my son is 6’1 and the top shelf was a reach for him. The room is super small though but he enjoyed his time there.

Does anyone know anything about Collins?

My son got Johnson. He did not request substance free and he’s a bit confused by his assignment. Not that we condone substance use but it is college and we don’t want him penalized should anything happen. Does anyone have experience with Johnson? In reading other posts it seems that there may be only one floor in Johnson that is substance free. Any input that we can get about Johnson would be great. Thanks.

The entire Johnson residential hall is not substance free. Only certain floors are. Your son would be place on one of the floors that are not substance free.

wait so how do you find it?

nvm, does anyone know anything about babcock?

I lived in Bostwick! :)

PS, irishmary, there’s like a 99% chance that I know your son hahaha.

As far as I can tell, ALL the rooms are small at Wake. Out of all the schools I looked at with D and then with S, Wake definitely had the smallest dorm rooms. I’m sure it bothered me more than D, though – she spent all 4 years in the dorms.

For the double rooms in Bostwick, are all the beds bunked by default? [WFU | Residence Life & Housing](<a href=“Bostwick Residence Hall - Office of Residence Life and Housing”>Bostwick Residence Hall - Office of Residence Life and Housing)

Pinkcupcake: well if you do know him, hopefully you like him! But if you want to know for sure just pm me. It is nice to know that he may have a friend as nice as you!

Daughter just found out she’s in Bostwick! We are already worrying about closet space. I don’t think it will matter what kind of closet she has - it will never be big enough - haha!

Pink - what is the deal with the basement at Bostwick - she quoted someone who said it was like living in a cave or something?? and are there a lot of single girl rooms in the dorm??

Thanks!

DB – the beds will most likely be bunked when your S arrives. BUT, they can be unbunked, and raised up on the frame to give more under bed space. (This requires an Allen wrench.) If your S and his roommate choose to unbunk the beds, it obviously results in less open floor space. When D was in Luter freshman year, she and her roommate unbunked their beds, and, from the floorplans, those rooms are smaller than in Bostwick. Plus, the desks, & bureaus are built in in Luter, meaning there was only one possible way to configure the room with unbunked bed. But, the girls decided it was worth it since neither wanted the top bunk.

Whatever the room issue (size, # of closets, etc.), students adapt – even the ones who swear ahead of time that they can’t possibly survive in a room like that!

Thanks for the info, CBBB.

I’m sure Son wouldn’t object to bunks. But, since he has toget up at 5:30 three days a week for Army ROTC workouts, it may take some trial and error to find the arrangement that is least disruptive to the roommate’s rest.

Am I just not seeing it, or are they still updating the housing? My account status still says “estimated.”

whoopfer, kids on the Class of 2014 FB page speculate that if your dorm isn’t listed then you’ll be in the new one.

“For the double rooms in Bostwick, are all the beds bunked by default?”

All beds come bunked, but you can debunk them or loft them. I recommend lofting … my roommate lofted her bed over mine (they were perpendicular). I had legitimately the smallest room in the whole building so it was actually necessary, but in most rooms you can decide if you want to bunk or not.

“Daughter just found out she’s in Bostwick! We are already worrying about closet space. I don’t think it will matter what kind of closet she has - it will never be big enough - haha!”

Seconding this. My dad unscrewed my bed piece and put it as high up as it could go and I stored clothes under my bed in rolling containers. I also had two crates and my closet looked like it was going to explode. I feel your pain ;)

“Pink - what is the deal with the basement at Bostwick - she quoted someone who said it was like living in a cave or something?? and are there a lot of single girl rooms in the dorm??”

The basement really isn’t that bad. The bathroom isn’t so great, but the rooms tend to be bigger. There are two HUUUUUUUUUGE triples in the basement. Huuuuge. There are a lot of single rooms in Bosty … there were five (? I think?) on the girl’s side of my floor.

Pink- do you know anything about the babcock rooms?
