Dorm Bathrooms at Reed

I know this might seem like a silly question, but what are the dorm bathrooms like at Reed? Like, what’s the general set up? What are the showers like? How many in a bathroom? Are they closed off/separated? They’re coed, right? Etc
Haha thanks I’m just curious

Hello!

No worries – I had the same concerns before coming to Reed. I think Foster, Scholz and MacNaughton have terrible bathrooms. I could probably make peace with ODB bathrooms because they are smaller so fewer people could use it at the same time.

They are all separated. Yes, they are co-ed. The showers are great, probably in all dorms. I prefer single use bathrooms and well-separated stalls, so I would say that the language houses, the Grove, Sullivan/Naito, and perhaps Bragdon have the best situation going on, not to mention the apartments. You will probably be fine.

Thanks for replying!

I thought the cross-canyon dorms were rebuilt. Are they still horrible?

@AboutTheSame Are there actually plans to rebuild Chittick/Woodbridge/etc? They still look pretty bad, at least from the outside. The only experience I have on the inside is a couple rooms, and they seemed pretty nice, but that was just because my friends decorated their rooms well.

I was talking about the 1970s dorms. Surely they were rebuilt since then.

All dorms were single-sex in my day. I think Foster-Scholz and MacNaughton are not long for this world. At least MacNaughton will go. It looked ratty to me from the outside when I attended reunion last summer. These were all built in the 1960’s, I think. My first year I lived in Scholz, in which they had just subdivided quads into doubles. In later years I lived in newish cross-canyon dorms, and they were fine at the time, each housing about 25 people.
