I received this thing in the mail from IU about setting up dorm beds, and me and my roommate were going to set up the beds in a T-shape. Is it necessary to contact the BedLoft company to do this, or can it be done on your own or by calling the school? Also, I don't think that anybody would know this, but would you possibly know how you would split the cost of that when you have to enter a credit card on the website?

I suppose you CAN do it by yourself but, it’s not technically allowed. IU requires all furniture be moved to your desired configuration by the bedloft company for safety reasons. I don’t believe you can split the cost directly when placing the order but, if you and your roommate have agreed to pay half and half, one of you could agreed to pay fully on their card while the other pays their half in cash. So, in the end, you’ve split the cost without having to go through the website.

Most people I know (my roommate and myself included) configured the set up of their beds themselves.

There were people with tools wandering the hallways on move in day to help with bed configurations two years ago when we did it. Figure out what you want in advance and grab one of them right when you get there before they get too busy.

I wouldn’t count on being able to do it yourself. I’ve called a couple times regarding bed configuration (me and my roommate wanted to loft both) and they were pretty adamant that you can only bunk or put them in the L shape and that they must be done ahead of time by bedloft. As far as paying I’d get him/her to pay you the other half in cash when you arrive; that’s the easiest way.

How are the beds configured if you don’t do anything?

^ It depends. Usually the beds are bunked, but I know of instances where they have been lofted or both have been on the floor.

It will tell you if you go to bedloft.com and choose IUB
