Hi everyone! I am going to start college in the fall of 2014 at FSU. I applied early decision so therefore I was able to apply for housing as soon as the contract opened and got a great priority number (101). I should be able to get into the dorm/room style of my choice, I believe! My dorm choices as of now (in order of preference) are Wildwood, Degraff, Gilchrist, Reynolds, Cawthon and Broward and I have put down doubles suite style as my #1 type of room preference. For the dorms I have chosen, does anyone have any feedback? The nicest? Biggest rooms? Best location? Any pros/cons for any of the dorms? Thank you all for your opinions!

My son lived in Wildwood his freshman year. He liked it since close to SLC and stadium since he is in film school. We did not want meal plan, so also good, and its one of the newer dorms. any of the newer suite style dorms are about the same size. If you are female, not so sure about Degraff as you have to cross Tennesee street to get there. There is an underground tunnel you can use, but not too safe at night. I believe Gilchrist has honors students as well and not familiar with the others or if they require meal plans.

What do you want to be closest to? Food, the gym, the stadium, classes (would vary based on your major/classes you take), or what?

I lived in Wildwood my freshman year. It was pretty much brand new, and it was close enough to food (about 10 minutes from both Fresh Food and Suwannee), it was close to the stadium, circus, and the SLC. It was also pretty close to my classes and the Union.

If you don’t want to have a meal plan (I don’t recommend them if you aren’t required to have one), Wildwood is a better choice than the east side dorms that require meal plans.

Ok thank you Pasbal. I went to campus yesterday and talked to a student who lived in Wildwood and she liked it a lot since she rushed and the meal plan isn’t required for that dorm. However, I also really like Gilchrist.
