I am going to be a freshman in Honors at UC next year and am having a hard time deciding my dorm.

My two choices are Daniels and Turner which I have heard and seen the following about:
Daniels is the average college dorm room, squeezing 4 people into one room.
Turner is one of the most nicest dorms on campus and is more alongside an apartment (It is also for 4 people divided between two bedrooms). This only costs about $1000 more a year and shouldn't be too much of an issue.
However, Turner has been described to me as a boring place to live since most people always stay in their dorms because they have small living rooms. Also, Turner is predominantly Sophomores.
Daniels, on the other hand, is the normal college dorm, with open door policies into rooms and much more socialization. It is almost totally Freshman.

I realize that I have to make the decision on my own set of priorities, but I was hoping someone here could provide some insight. Thanks for any help!

My son, a freshman, picked Daniels for his dorm. It was a good choice, full of friendly freshmen looking to meet friends. He's enjoyed hanging out with the kids he met from Daniels. My son works hard and many hours to do well (12 hour days in the studio are common; yes, he's an architecture student), but he's very happy that he's at UC.

Also, there are a couple of rooms on each floor designated for 2 students (as opposed to 4). My son registered for housing in January (UC was his top choice) and lucked out with a room for 2. I visited during Parents Weekend and liked his roommate and the other students I met there.

Congratulations & best of luck!

Mom of 2

Thanks for the help Mom of 2. I am also not sure which one I would rather have- a room of 2 or 4, although by this point I am probably stuck in a room for 4.

Any advice from anyone would still be appreciated!

My son chose Turner and stayed in the same suite freshman and sophomore years. It was definitely the right choice for him, as he lucked into the single room in a 7-person suite. As a parent, after seeing both dorms, there is no question that I would choose Turner.

But different strokes for different folks.

Turner is clearly nicer. HOWEVER, Daniels is MUCH more social. You will meet a lot more people in Daniels.
