I'm planning on going to UC next year, (waiting for the letter to make it a for sure go), and I'm coming from Columbus so I know I'm going to need to dorm.
I may get a single suite, because I have a few health issues I don't want to bother anyone with. But I'm unsure oh how the dorm rooms REALLLYYY are. I've gone online and looked at the pictures they had up, and google searched, and I didn't find the pictures or descriptions of the dorms very thorough or helpful at all.
So, in your opinion, what are the best/worst dorms? And why?

I’m from columbus, go c-bus!!

it all depends on what you’re looking for. In terms of singles, I know some people living in Daniels singles- a lot of freshmen tend to live there. I would say the worst dorms are Calhoun and Siddal, as they are probably the smallest. Dabney has no elevator- I don’t know anything else about their rooms. I live in Daniels (in a quad…) and while its kinda annoying at first to have 3 other roommates, its something I’ve gotten used to in the space provided. The best dorms are Turner and Stratford, hands down. You might like stratford as they are a little more private than turner, in that the rooms are doubles- however two rooms share a bathroom/ They are literally like hotel rooms, and are very nice. It is just across the street from campus, but it is about the same distance from all the colleges (e.g. DAAP, A&S, etc.) as all the other dorms. Turner is suite style- in that there are two bedrooms with two beds in each room, and in addition have a common area and bathroom in each room. They are also very nice- all the other dorms are nowhere near as nice as turner or stratford. Keep in mind for turner- it is only for athletes and honors students. If you have any more specific questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the input! But I finally got accepted Friday and my mom and I have been looking at Schneider. Do you know anything specific about it?

Let me want you about all dorms. They provide LOTS of distractions. Basically you have a lot of kids that want to party hardy, not to mention hot and cold running babes/guys. Thus, you really need to be able to develop some strong time management for your studies so you can have some fun.

I would only imagine Taxguy haha. If I could, I would get an apartment and a job and live close to campus, because I’m quite serious about my studies. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love to have a good time. But my school work is definitely a priority. But the dorms are my only option, being an out of town freshman.

I don’t find the dorms too bad- in daniels, there’s a daap floor full of kids always working (some kids are out there right now…)

Schnieder is for upperclassmen (as far as I know…) so I don’t know how you’ll get in it. It is the same kind of dorm as turner though, which is for honors kids and athletes (its a lot calmer than daniels… a lot of cool people live there though). If you’re not in honors, stratford is the nicest, followed by daniels… I think (i wouldn’t recommend calhoun, its rooms are tiny and dabney has no elevator)
hope this helped… if you have any more specific questions- I’ll do my best to answer them.

Thanks! I didn’t see anywhere on the site that Schnieder was for upperclassmen. Odd that they would leave that out haha. But theyre nicer, so it makes sense. But thank you, you’ve been a lot of help :)

im going to live in a quad in daniels just because its cheaper, does anyone know if i should go for the honors floor or the DAAP floor?

They told me Schneider is welcome to freshman and Turner was for freshman athletes and honors only, other than that it’s for upperclassmen. Calhoun and Siddal are the oldest dorms, that’s why they’re so small and not as “nice” compared to the others. I hear a lot of people like Daniels. There are also a lot of people going for Stratford.

I think there have been some changes this year on the room assignments because they’re full.
