<p>You have to use a wire, and sadly ResNet (UCSB's internet provider) says you may absolutely not use wireless routers in your room for security purposes =/</p>

<p>Most stores like Target should have a section for extra large bedding. The school will send you a pamphlet to buy extra large bedding from them but just go to Target and get it.</p>

<p>I was wondering when do we find out about whihc Dorm we got. Because I heard move in day is either 22 or 23 depending on your dorm. But I need to know now because I am booking my ticket and I am not sure when to come back then.</p>
<p>If you don't know what day, just pick the later date since they will let you move in after your official move in day.</p>
<p>Is it true that even though F.T has suite-like bathrooms, there is two showers and also a pair of sinks??</p>
<p>Can someone tell me how Tropicana Gardens is? I heard it is much better than the other private dorm. I got denied from on campus housing.</p>
<p>I visited it and it looks great. Much cleaner than Fountainblue and they seem to work harder to keep the place presentable (people are always working the office, rooms are repainted every year, carpet is nice, LOTS of plants, etc.). The food is supposed to be better than even the on-campus dining commons, which already put the Blue to shame.
The real drawback however is that it is significantly more expensive. Also Trop is supposed to be quite competitive so don't wait to the last minute to apply.</p>

<p>The only dorm rooms I've been in on campus are doubles in Manzanita and Santa Rosa. Compared to both the doubles at Trop are bigger, if I recall correctly (much bigger than Santa Rosa for sure, I'm less certain about Manzanita).
Trop has a decent number of UCSB students, between 50 and 75% IIRC. For comparison, Fontainblue is only about 10% UC students. The majority of the UC residents are lower-classmen though, when I asked they said the breakdown was about 50% freshmen, 25% sophmores, and the rest fairly even between juniors and seniors.</p>
<p>I lived at Trop last year. It really depends what you want, but for me Trop was a good fit. Trop is way bigger than on campus dorms. RAs are way, way more relaxed. It's in IV so it's close to the parties. Food is ok, gets repetative, but you can't expect too much from dorm food. It's pretty evenly half and half UC/CC kids. When the CC kids leave it is so much quieter (and you can actually find parking). A lot of the UC kids that live there are athletes. If you are looking to meet a bunch of new people, the dorms are probably a better place. Of course you still meet people at Trop, but it's just so much smaller than the dorms, and you don't eat at the on campus dining halls.</p>
