Check out the website--both our student and I were curious. I think it has the best info about all the dorms whether they have A/C or not.

Sorry Heycow. Just a ND parent trying to help... didn't mean to be trite.

Definitely ask questions and we'll chime in to the best of our ability.

Thanks -I appreciate all of your help!

PE, PW, McGlinn and Welsh Fam for girls dorms, Duncan, Keough, O'Neill, Knott and Siegfried for guys have A/C

Can I assume students are allowed to bring a small dorm size refrigator?

Yes, but no microwaves/hot pots/toasters in the rooms.

40 cubic feet is the upper limit, officially. And frankly, anything bigger is generally impractical (although I do know some guys who had a full-size fridge in their room - they were all health nuts and, believe it or not, actually used the whole thing).

I've had a microwave in my room for the past 2 years. Depending on what dorm you're in, usually nobody cares. I know my RA actually had a microwave in his room, so that should show you how much leeway you have. Feel it out the first couple of weeks of school, and then if you want, pick one up at Meijer or something for about 30 bucks.

as someone coming from CA, what else should i bring from home other than the clothes and dorm poster and what should I wait to buy in South Bend?

Actually, ^that's kind of a bad way to phrase the question. In other words, what is absolutely essential to bring from home and what should I definitely wait to buy in SB?

Thinking back to freshman year, coming from SoCal...I brought clothes, and that's it, and a computer (because I used a desktop). Everything else I got at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Since then half that stuff I've either given away to friends or Old2Gold and some of it goes to storage.

And about clothes. Pick out everything you want, and then just cut that in half, if you are a guy. If you are a female then there is nothing that can help you, you are poor banished children of Eve with too many shoes.
