Do all dorm rooms have "modular furniture" that you can stack/loft/trundle if you want to? I have a double at North Quad and it's only 11 x 16 (which is not huge, but not tiny I guess) and from the picture I saw, lofting our beds and desks and bureaus is going to be the most efficient use of space.

Will the furniture in North Quad be the modular kind that you can loft? And will it already be arranged in a loft when we move in, or will it just be randomly crammed into the room? This is my first time in a dorm so I don't know what to expect.

Any other advice on dorm furniture and space-saving in a double would be appreciated!

Firstly, be thankful for 11 x 16, that’s huge for a dorm. I had an 8 x 10. And you’re in North Quad? If you’re a freshman and not a transfer, that’s pretty lucky as well because NQ is amazing.

You can loft the furniture in any room, but by default it will not be lofted. It will be “crammed” in your room I guess, but in my opinion with your room size you’d be very comfortable without lofting as well. Lofting has many annoying drawbacks, and for me at least, I prefer the default arrangement

My contract mentioned the dorm room having “block furniture” which meant we could loft it with the desk and small drawer provided. Dunno if they’ve changed that or not.
